According to the Henley Passport Index 2025, India has plunged down by five points on the list of the world’s most influential passports, ranking 85th from 80th earlier. This ranking is calculated by the countries that are visa-free, drawing information from the International Air Transport Association (IATA) alone.

According to the latest rankings, Indians are now free to visit 57 countries without applying for a visa, the same as EQ Guinea and Niger. On the other hand, Singapore has retained its position on the topmost position and its citizens have visa free access to 195 countries of the world.

The top 10 countries

9. Estonia, United States (186)

10. Lithuania, Latvia, Slovenia, United Arab Emirates (185)

The top 10 countries have Europe as the most represented continent; Japan, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, South Korea, Spain. On the same list, the UAE has risen 32 places to rank the 10th best country in the world with visa free access to 185 countries globally.

For instance, out of the 31 countries, the United States has dramatically fallen from position two to nine, shy, according to experts, by the US’s political culture of protectionism and nationalism. CSIS Senior Associate Annie Pforzheimer said that “American political tendencies since the 2010s leaned more inward and isolationist… During the 2024 presidential election, the electorate watched and was told that America can (and should) go it alone.
